About our project

The purpose of our experiment, is to see which liquid would make the collard greens germinate the best.  We are using water, sparkling water, and ginger ale to conduct our experiment.  By testing these liquids we are testing to see if the carbon dioxide in the ginger ale and sparkling water will have an effect on how fast the collard greens will germinate.  The ginger ale is a little different from the water and sparkling water, ginger ale has added sugars, natural ginger flavor, and citric acid, so it is another variable in the experiment.  Everyday we will be putting 20mL of liquid in the according cups.  It is important to put liquid in the cups everyday so you can have a constant rate of data.  Collard greens are part of the Brassica oleracea famiy, which includes cabbage, broccoli, kale, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and more.
